Peace Fleece began as a project designed to unite American and Russian artisans in producing beautiful yarns and supplies, while setting aside political animosities. Today, Maine-based Peace Fleece continues its creative mission of peace and unity by offering yarns and supplies from American, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Israeli, and Palestinian artisans.
Peace Fleece DK Sport Weight wool is 70% Merino wool and 30% Mohair, combining Russian, Romanian, and American product. Each skein is approximately 4 oz/ 350 yards with a suggested gauge of 5 stitches per inch on #6 needles. Of course, we suggest that you check your own gauge for each project.
Each dye lot may vary in color and thickness.
Washing instructions: Hand wash in lukewarm water using a gentle dishwashing liquid. Rinse well; do not wring. Roll in a towel to absorb excess water. Lay articles flat to dry, out of the direct sunlight. This yarn with soften and fluff with continued washings.

Gauge Alert
As with any project, we urge you to check your gauge before beginning as there can be variations in any yarn. With Peace Fleece, the solid colors tend to be thicker than heathers, and flecked yarns are a little thinner still.
A suggested needle size for any given pattern may not be the correct size for your knitting style or chosen yarn. Swatching does help to ensure that the garment we take such care in knitting will fit well, which, in turn, enhances our pleasure in knitting.

Mourning Dove is one of the new colors offered that is 10% Russian fiber and 90% US wool and mohair. Of the 90%, part of the fiber comes from American farmers who have worked the land for generations. The other part is fiber from Native and non-native sheep farmers from on and around the Cheyenne River Lakota Reservation in South Dakota. This unique and beautiful fiber is truly worldly!
